Given Manukau Mayor Len Brown's propensity to dine on the ratepayers' coin, Bart wonders if the bus-stop pictured is simply an unfortunate juxtaposition of advertisements, or a political statement?
Letterbox snobbery
Jono found a Post-it on his letterbox saying, "Please replace this letterbox. It is letting down the neighbourhood." He's not sure whether it was a joke, and admits his letterbox does have plenty of "character". He is curious, though, as his house is the nicest in the street, and he lives at the end of a cul-de-sac. Letting the neighbourhood down? Really?
Nothing sacred
A reader writes, "My father and I disturbed a burglary in progress in Mt Eden on Saturday night, as the offender was crawling out an office through a broken window with an expensive Apple computer in hand. The burglar dropped the laptop when he spotted us and made a hasty getaway. The place being robbed? The Prisoners Aid & Rehabilitation Society."
Generosity bound to be repaid
Janet writes, "We would like to say a BIG thank you to the kind gentleman who approached us on Sunday and gave us his daughter's old elite soccer boots and shin pads at the BP on Onewa Rd. We were returning very wet, muddy and exhausted from an exhilarating tournament at Birkenhead Soccer Club. The All Whites of 2022 say thank you!"
Second life for loo paper
Terry says toilet paper "seconds" do not concern him much. It probably means the packaging is damaged or the colours are misaligned. But his toilet paper comes with the inscription that it is recyclable. Now, that does not bear thinking about!
