Tony reckons he'd be a bit reluctant to take his pet rabbit in for physio to this vet in Orewa.
Sailing into trouble
After the tale of swift robbery-solving, Paul writes: "A few years ago, a friend of mine - an ex-policeman turned private detective - was sitting in his East Coast Bays lounge admiring a yacht coming into the bay. His phone rang - an insurance company wanting him to find a yacht stolen from the Bay of Islands. As the assessor began to describe the yacht, Kevin finished the description for him. The assessor asked him if he knew the boat. "I'm looking at it through my binoculars as we speak." Crime solved.
Sales in the millions
North Shore estate agents are distributing flyers saying there have been four recent million-plus sales in the area, but they add: "The above sales data (publicly available statistics) is supplied for the information of local residents and is a result of our extensive research. Accuracy is a priority but cannot be guaranteed." They then note that the listings and sales were not necessarily made by them or their company. So, if their information is possibly inaccurate and they haven't made the quoted sales, what else do they have going for them?
Edward the self-hating virgin
Quote: "And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he's a 108-year-old virgin so he's obviously got some issues there." (Robert Pattinson on his Twilight character Edward Cullen, in an interview for Empire magazine.)
Price of protest
In Federal St, central Auckland, on Friday morning, a group from Greenpeace protesting against the Fonterra conference covered the footpath in green paint, reports Brianna, "which was later water-blasted off, down the drain, to the ocean, where it'll probably kill the dolphins".
Bank gets told off
Regarding the unblocking of a seized account that's been going on for a month: Faye from Pukekohe suggests contacting the Banking Ombudsman. "A few years ago I disputed an amount on a Visa and held back payment to force a resolution. The bank cunningly, and ultimately illegally, deducted the payment due from the school bank accounts of my two young sons. The ombudsman sorted out the bank very quickly. I still ended up paying, but at least the bank got a nasty telling-off."
