Got kids? Know when to leave them at home, says Marion: "Full marks to the man in the audience at Buzz Aldrin's speech at SkyCity who bellowed at the parents of a screaming infant: "Take that child out of here." The bawling had gone on for some time but was blithely ignored by the parents. Eventually the mother made a leisurely exit, only to bring the noisy child back in - twice. Madam: everyone was enthralled to see one of the men who made that first historic landing on the moon. We also wanted to hear what he had to say."

A renter writes: "I have just had a run-in with the most unreasonable property management company which seems to think it's ethical to alter a signed bond agreement and charge $177.68 for four light bulbs. Keith Galbraith, owner/head brewer of Galbraith's Alehouse: "In most pubs a 'pint' is a glass far smaller than a real pint (568ml). When I took this up with weights and measures a few years ago I was informed that this practice was acceptable because pints are not the legal standard in New Zealand, litres are. I prefer to look at per litre prices when judging the value of beer served in pubs and believe it should be mandatory for bars to advertise all beers served on a dollar per litre basis."

A reader writes: "The couch grandstand in yesterday's Sideswipe [print version] was erected at the house of one of the local lads. Every Boxing Day they hold what is known as Crate Day where the lads enjoy a day in the sun, drink beer and interact with the residents and traffic; particularly those of the female persuasion. If the photographer had looked closer they would have noticed a homemade water slide to the side of the house that would have done 'Wet & Wild' proud. All good harmless fun."
