Economic sickness is real and spreading. A reader writes: "I currently park in a Wilson carpark on the outskirts of the city centre at Carlaw Park (Parnell/Grafton). They claimed that due to unforeseen circumstances they have had to raise their rate. My parking is going up from $56 a month to $236!
Shouldn't the Government, along with the big multinational organisations, be working together on this crazy economic crisis and try not to make such dramatic increases necessary? The company I work for has put in place a pay increase freeze to all staff to help avoid possible redundancies - how are we expected to get to work and live with these necessary expenses when they are all being put up and not our pay?"

In Italy more than 100 people, including police officers, are being investigated for allegedly rigging traffic cameras to increase the number of fines. The amber lights were apparently set to change after three seconds instead of the required five or six. Thousands of drivers issued tickets from the cameras are expected to ask for compensation.
