Isaac James Thompson, of Rangiora, was an employee of Canterbury Television.
The 21-year-old worked in visual and sound production and died when the CTV building collapsed in the earthquake.
Isaac was also the lead guitarist in rock band The Honesty, which released its first album, Lines from a Book, in May 2010.
"You are constantly being prayed for and thought of. Love you so much," one friend posted on a website.
