Let's face it, we have pretty much all tried to sell a carat one time or another. Usually it is because no right-minded car dealer would take it as a trade, which means it is never going to be easy to sell. Because, to be blunt, it is a piece of crap.
But an Australian man has come up with an ingenious way to sell his crappy 1999 Holden Barina - he has used his experience as a digital ad director to not only make what is possibly the best ad for a car (new or used) ever, but also a dedicated website, both of which perfectly take the mickey out of new car advertising.
David Johns' website buymybarina.com is a brilliant parody of new car websites, that opens with the statement "This is driving, redefined" and goes on with some utter gems like: "Performance, refinement and quality that will leave you wanting more ..."
The Barina features front and rear tyres, interchangeable hubcaps (three) and has had some careful owners. Handily the website also assures us that "the ample storage means that you can ever fit the vehicle's own exhaust should the need arise".
