Quick thinking by some Miriam St residents has led to the arrest of an alleged burglar in Masterton.
Senior Sergeant Mike Sutton said the man had been seen by two Miriam St residents leaving a neighbour's house at about 9am on Tuesday.
"He was seen by neighbours carrying a TV, at which point they questioned him and he put the TV down."
The man fled on foot but was followed by the two women in a car. When they saw a police car, the women stopped and asked for help. Police found the man as he was coming out of Queen Elizabeth Park and arrested him.
Mr Sutton said it was good to see people being neighbourly. "The residents in that part of town know each other pretty well and obviously this guy didn't fit, especially in the way he was behaving."
