Building and Construction Minister Shane Jones says the Government will allow developers to get a "mega-consent" for one house design which would also cover all other houses built to the same design.
The move is intended to reduce prices for modest homes by cutting the $1500 to $3000 cost of getting consents, and reduce delays that have been blamed for adding up to $30,000 to the cost of a home.
