Lucy Cruickshank enjoyed her debut appearance in the Taupo half-ironman last weekend so much she intends to spread the word.
Cruickshank has plans to encourage other rookies to participate in events of that kind by setting up a training group in her home town of Masterton early in the New Year.
"I couldn't wipe the smile from my face when I made it to the finish and I am sure there are plenty of others out there who would enjoy the experience," Cruickshank said.
Cruickshank completed the 2km swim, 90km cycle ride and 21.1km run in 6h 04m 59s.
