Irish jobs boom looks over

Unemployment is growing in Ireland for the first time in five years.

The Government said yesterday that joblessness rose to 4.3 per cent of the workforce in the June-August quarter, up from 3.7 per cent.

The setback reflected a wave of layoffs, particularly among US multinationals with European bases in Ireland.
