Munster Rugby tweeted: "What a time to be Irish.... What a moment! Enjoy every minute of it."
The officical Irish Rugby Twitter account said: "Made a note in the diary today. Simply says...YES! #TeamOfUs #shouldertoshoulder"
This spoof account of the Irish President said Ireland centre Robbie Henshaw should be promoted to vice-president of the nation.
This tweet summed up the nail biting end to the game, when the All Blacks came fighting back.
Daymon Tuka said: "IRELAND CALL HAS FINALLY BEEN ANSWERED! LOVE THE GAME THEY PLAY IN HEAVEN!#IREvNZL"
While Brendan Dunne said what many others are saying - does the win make Ireland unofficial world champions:
"So that makes ireland unofficial world champions...of course it does. #IREvNZL," he posted
But it wasn't so much fun for the All Blacks fans. One likened the result to when the hero of your favourite movie "dies at the end":
This New Zealand fan's not holding a grudge though:
Tweeting under the handle @nakiwa22 said: "Well done Ireland, enjoy the win. It won't happen again in you lifetime."
Dan Carter has posted this picture of him with his Racing 98 teammate and former Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara:
O'Gara had already posted that he wished he was with his fellow boys in green in Chicago celebrating:
"Oh to be an Irish rugby player today.. what a feeling..ye are some warriors..get up ye boyos.. gutted to be missing the session in Chicago," he tweeted.
And the win has already caused strife in this household, where a wedding could be in jeopardy.
User Laura_M8 said: "Brother is marrying a New Zealander in December! Mother of the bride just sent this to my mother."
The post included a screen shot of a text conversation between said mother of the bride and her mother saying "the wedding is off... Steve has revoked his permission".
