Take a temperature of -13C, mix in a little fog and you get this icy-white landscape - but it isn't a frost.
Known as rime ice, it occurs when tiny droplets of moisture in the air, such as fog, connect with freezing surfaces such as a barbed-wire fence.
This picture was taken near Otematata, near the southern end of Lake Benmore, one of the Waitaki Valley hydro lakes, in North Otago.
