If you want to buy a used car and it has to be from a politician, then steer clear of Rod Donald and Richard Prebble.
Neither the Green co-leader nor the Act leader inspired confidence when a Herald-DigiPoll survey asked voters which politician they would buy a used car from.
Politicians and used-car salespeople often rank at the bottom of the trustworthy heap in surveys, alongside journalists, and it seems women, especially, do not want a bar of Mr Donald or Mr Prebble's mechanical know-how.
Just 0.4 per cent of women said they would buy a vehicle from Mr Donald, and 2.5 per cent would trust Mr Prebble.
Prime Minister Helen Clark was preferred at the sales helm for 25.2 per cent overall, and National's Bill English received 20.9 per cent support.
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters had 11.1 per cent and the Greens' Jeanette Fitzsimons 10.5 per cent.
Almost 19 per cent of those surveyed said they would not buy a car off any politician.
