Prominent doctor and anti-abortion campaigner Diana Mason has died in Wellington, aged 84.
Dr Mason was the widow of one of New Zealand's best-known playwrights, Bruce Mason, who died of cancer in 1982.
She was medical superintendent of Alexandra Maternity Hospital and Home for Unmarried Mothers in Wellington from 1958 to 1978. Dr Mason served nine years on the New Zealand Medical Disciplinary Committee and was made an OBE for her services to obstetrics and particularly to single young mothers.
