Former New Zealand journalist Bob Ferris died last week in a car accident in Canberra.
Ferris, 67, was the former husband of former Liberal senator Jeannie Ferris, who died recently of cancer. Born in New Zealand in 1939, he began his career as a sports reporter with the Dominion in Wellington in 1957.
Several other jobs followed in New Zealand including chief subeditor of the Rotorua Daily Post, where he met his first wife. He went to Australia in 1963, working in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
He is survived by his second wife and four children.
