KEY POINTS:
A 1960s Wanaka bach was sold at auction for $1,090,000 to an Auckland investor who saw it in a photograph.
The price was $133,000 more than the price it fetched at auction in 2005.
First National real estate agent Mac Passmore said about 60 people attended the auction.
The house was built by the Smith family, of Palmerston, 45 years ago and was kept in the family until it was sold in February 2005.
A similar number of people attended that auction.
Mr Passmore said the buyer had only seen photographs of the house.
Brownston St properties, particularly those with views across Pembroke Park, are proving to be popular investments.
It is the third house in the street that has sold for more than $1 million in the past three months.
Two bigger and newer houses sold for $1.7 million and $1.3 million.
