Police investigating a double homicide in west Auckland will today be talking to neighbours and examining the scene in more detail.
A woman in her 40s and a man in his 50s were both found dead at a home in Kervil Avenue, Te Atatu about 5.30pm yesterday.
The woman was found dead in a bedroom, while the man's body was located inside a vehicle in a garage at the property.
Police spokesman Kev Loughlin said a detailed examination of the scene and an area canvas of neighbours would be among the priorities for investigators today.
He said the process was expected to be a long one as there were several scenes inside the house and in the garage to examine.
Friends and families of the two deceased people would also be talked to.
Neighbours told the Sunday Star-Times that the two deceased people had lived at the address for more than 10 years but that they split up about two months ago, but Mr Loughlin said police would not comment.
He said it was too early in the investigation to determine whether a weapon had been used or how the pair died. A post mortem is due tomorrow.
The incident is the second double homicide to occur in West Auckland in the past three weeks.
Brother and sister Lesa Pakau, 33, and Fiu Pakau, 41, were found dead with gunshot wounds in a suspected murder-suicide in Henderson on September 27.
