Wellington police will continue their investigation today into the death of a person found lodged in a storm-water culvert near Te Papa.
The body was found by members of the public yesterday afternoon and police are treating the death as suspicious.
A large cordon was placed around the Harbourside Market at Chaffers Marina, which was closed as police struggled to conduct their scene examination in fierce winds.
Wellington City drainage staff were called in to assist in dislodging the body from the drain.
Police say it's too early to speculate on the identity of the person or the circumstances surrounding the death.
