Investigations are underway into a fire which continues to burn through vegetation on Christchurch's Port Hills.
The blaze started around 3pm yesterday and has ripped through three hectares of grassland on Summit Road, near Sugarloaf.
Around 20 fire officers will remain on the ground today to extinguish any flare-ups and hot spots.
Principal Rural Fire Officer Darrin Woods says they are looking into the cause of the blaze.
"If members of the public did observe any sort of suspicious activity in that area at the time the fire started last night they'd be welcome to call through to the Christchurch City Council call centre."
