Police say the investigation into whether charges will be laid in the fatal shooting of a hunter at the weekend will be completed this week.
Aron Colin Timms, 18, from the Napier suburb of Taradale, died instantly when he was shot in the chest while hunting between Napier and Taupo with two others on Saturday morning.
Police believe he was mistaken for a deer after the group became separated.
Detective Sergeant Sean Hansen said yesterday the investigation into the shooting was likely to be completed by the end of the week.
He said police would then make a decision on whether charges would be laid.
