Investigation into Paeroa death continues

Police are trying to establish the routines and habits of Paeroa pizza store owner Jordan Voudouris as they probe the homicide of the much-loved local businessman.

Police confirmed yesterday that the 55-year-old's death was a homicide but have revealed little else, including the results of a post-mortem examination.

Mr Voudouris' body was found in a driveway behind his business early on Monday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Whitehead said the scene examination at Mr Voudouris' store, Mykono's Pizzas, was continuing and may take another two days.

"The investigation team are still working to profile and background Mr Jordan Voudouris to gain an understanding of his habits and routines.''

He said friends, employees and patrons had been helping police and they had good assistance from the Paeroa community.

"The police are also working with local businesses that were open on Sunday night to identify people who were out and about who may be able to help reconstruct activity in the town that night.''

Police had not yet established whether there were any links between Mr Voudouris' death and two robberies in the region around the same time but hoped to have new information by tomorrow.

A team of about 20 staff are working on the case in conjunction with Bay of Plenty police to determine whether there were links to an attempted robbery of a service station in Waihi and the aggravated robbery of a dairy in Katikati on Monday morning.

Police appealed for anyone who many have any information to contact them.

They particularly wanted to speak to anyone who was around the Paeroa town centre between 10pm on Sunday and 6am on Monday.
