KEY POINTS:
An investigation has been ordered into a Lower Hutt secondary school, following allegations of schoolyard sex, drinking and drug-taking.
Hutt Valley High School is one of the largest in New Zealand, with a roll of more than 1,700 students.
Education Minister Chris Carter says the allegations include students having sex in cars and bushes, as well as lunchtime drinking and cannabis smoking.
He says he is keen to get the bottom of the claims, and knows parents want an assurance their children are safe at school.
Mr Carter is expecting a report next week. The school was in the headlines late last year over allegations of bullying.
