WorkSafe are investigating an incident at a Newmarket construction site where a man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition with "crush injuries".
Emergency services received a call at 8.07am yesterday after the incident occurred at a site in Newmarket.
A WorkSafe spokeswoman said an investigation had been opened into the incident.
"WorkSafe has been notified of a male worker being injured on a Newmarket construction site yesterday. The worker is reported to have crush injures to his chest and neck," the spokeswoman said.
An Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust spokesman said the incident involved a man being struck in the face with a steel beam.
