A Kiwi who posted on social media about voting more than once in the flag referendum is being investigated by police.
The Electoral Commission said today that an individual had posted about voting or intending to vote more than once in the second flag referendum using another person's voting papers.
The commission said it referred the matter to police today.
Under the New Zealand Flag Referendums Act 2015, it is illegal for anyone to complete someone else's voting paper. Anyone found guilty of a corrupt practice under the act could face up to two years in prison and/or a fine of up to $40,000.
The Electoral Commission said it would not comment any further as the matter was now with the police.
