Invercargill Police are investigating what they believe is a deliberate hit and run which has left a man with a broken pelvis.
They say a 46 year old man was walking on the footpath on Elles Road around 12:40 yesterday morning when he was hit near the intersection with Kew Road.
The man's now in Southland Hospital in a stable condition.
The vehicle involved is believed to be a red Holden Rodeo ute which was later found abandoned at Oreti Beach and has since been reported as stolen.
