KEY POINTS:
Morris Minors took over Auckland yesterday as their owners celebrated 60 years of the vehicle on the roads.
The Auckland Morris Minor Club led a convoy of 25 convertibles, travellers, woodies and coups on a 17km ride through the city, ending at St Heliers.
The car debuted at London's first post-war motor show in 1948. It went on to become Britain's best-selling car of the times, with more than 1.3 million made.
"It seems almost everyone has a Morris Minor story," said club president John Watkins. "Nearly everyone has told me that they or a member of their family once owned one."
