A seaside Cindy Sherman self-portrait, a dramatic stormscape by Australian Bill Henson and a Timm Rautert series of a male diver were just some of the images selected by designer Giorgio Armani for the Paris Photo 2013 exhibition at the Grand Palais, Paris, earlier this month.
An annual international art photography event supported by Armani, this year's Water and Light Acqua#4 exhibition brought together stunning photographs from 1900 to the present day. Dappled and moonlit seas echo the real-life views the Italian designer enjoys in his own Amalfi Coast retreat, with the Mediterranean having influenced his renowned Acqua di Gio fragrance for men and the new Acqua di Gioia Eau Fraiche for women.
Armani has acknowledged this connection in Acqua for Life, an aid project he has been involved with since 2009, delivering fresh water to developing nations.
The project's latest edition has delivered more than 52 million litres of drinkable water for Green Cross International programmes in Ghana and Bolivia.
