Six weeks of work to make the Chapel and Renall St intersection in Masterton safer is under way.
The New Zealand Transport Agency is undertaking the work to make it safer for road users by slowing approaching traffic from Renall St.
Work started this week and will cost $131,000.
The upgrade will improve the existing pedestrian crossing points, realign the traffic islands to slow vehicles entering the intersection and add new road markings to help guide traffic through the intersection.
There will also be new raised pavement tiles installed to make it easier for visually impaired people to use the crossing safely.
