Just two points separate the three teams after the opening series of matches in the Wairarapa regional one interclub tennis competition being played for the first time under a league format.
Out front is Gladstone with 12 points while Opaki and Masterton both have 10.
One of the more interesting results came in the women's doubles where Georgia Atkinson and Pam Eagle of Masterton beat the Opaki pairing of Katie Wyeth and Charlotte Mossman in straight sets. It was a result which certainly gave bragging rights to Eagle, who is the grandmother of Wyeth.
Results:
Women's singles: Katie Wyeth (Opaki) beat Sandra McNab (Gladstone) 6-2, 6-1; Bridgette Needham (Masterton) beat Charlotte Mossman (Opaki) 6-2, 6-1; Georgia Atkinson (Masterton) beat Pam Eagle (Masterton) 6-1, 6-0.
