State Highways 1 and 2 had the highest tallies of serious and fatal bike crashes in a five-year period, but Auckland's Tamaki Drive topped the list for purely urban roads, this Herald interactive graphic shows.
• Tamaki Drive had one fatal cycle crash and 15 that resulted in serious, non-fatal injuries from 2008 to 2012. A further 46 crashes caused minor injuries.
• The North Island section of State Highway 1 had, at 21, the greatest number of serious and fatal cycle crashes.
