Wairarapa homes in need of some extra insulation next winter could be eligible for financial help.
EnergySmart has funding for 30 homes to be insulated as long as they are owner-occupied, the owner has a Community Services Card and somebody in the household has a health condition which can be helped with insulation.
For an average three-bedroom home, the cost of insulating the house would be about $5000, according to Wairarapa/Tararua/Hawke's Bay manager Lyn Tankersley.
She said the scheme, which has been running for 10 years, is supported by the three district councils.
Three years ago, the government jumped on board with its Warm Up New Zealand scheme which also contributes to funding.
