A mentally ill gay man who stabbed another gay man to death in a Tauranga park has been found not guilty of murder.
A jury in the High Court at Rotorua yesterday accepted 35-year-old David Hynds' plea that he was not guilty of killing John Rogers, 52, by reason of insanity.
Hynds had admitted to Tauranga detectives that he stabbed Mr Rogers in the public toilets at Wharepai Domain on July 28 last year.
