An inquest will be held in Rotorua today into the death of Rosemary Ives.
She was on a camping trip near Turangi in October 2010 when she was shot by hunter Andrew Mears while he was illegally spotlighting for animals.
A number of witnesses are expected to give evidence todayincluding two Department of Conservation employees, the officer in charge of the case and at least one member of Ives' family.
The issues expected to be raised during the inquest include the dangers of hunting after dark and how the police handled the case.
Mears was released from prison in January after serving 11 months for the manslaughter of Ms Ives.
