Australian kayaker Andrew McAuley drowned in the Tasman Sea off the New Zealand coast in February last year when he was accidentally separated from his capsized craft, an inquest has found. The 39-year-old, a veteran sea kayaker, was trying to become the first person to make a solo kayak crossing from Australia to NZ. A ship recovered the kayak but McAuley's body was never found.
