Inmates angry at being kept on "lockdown" lit a series of fires in Auckland Prison at Paremoremo this week.
The inmates in the wing known as "A-block" were kept to their cells from Sunday night, when prison officers discovered two makeshift weapons, until Wednesday morning.
Auckland Prison manager Chris Burns said several small fires were set by inmates during a thorough search of the wing.
