KEY POINTS:
A rescue helicopter is standing by to bring out an injured woman from the bush this morning.
The 37-year-old, from Palmerston North, slipped and fell while tramping on a track in the Mangahao Valley in the Tararua Ranges about four o'clock on Friday afternoon.
She was with her husband when she fell off the track onto rocks.
She injured her face, legs and elbow, and was unable to continue on.
Yesterday her husband tramped out to get help.
Personnel were flown in to locate the woman, and they found her at 7.45 last evening and took her to the Mangahao Flats hut.
Darkness prevented a full recovery operation.
