A tramper with a broken collar bone has been flown to Nelson Hospital from Kahurangi National Park this morning.
The Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) picked up a distress beacon throughout yesterday but a Greymouth helicopter sent to the area in the afternoon could not find the source.
A rescue plane equipped with direction-finding gear took off from Taupo at about 5.15am and found the man about 6.30am, 10km west of Mount Patriach on the Wangapeka track.
