Save A tramper has had to be airlifted out of Nelson Lakes National Park near Murchison after falling down a bank.
The man was hiking near West Sabien Hut with a friend when he slipped suffering injuries to his back.
Police say his friend had to walk some distance out of
the park to get mobile phone reception to alert police.
The injured man has since been taken to Nelson Hospital.
