An Auckland teenager badly injured when a electricity transformer exploded in the street is seeking compensation from the power company.
Sam Ahleong lost all the skin from his groin when the transformer on a street in Avondale exploded and caught fire on February 11.
His lawyer Olinda Woodroffe said today Mr Ahleong was still in hospital and his hoped-for career in the police force was now in doubt.
All electricity company Vector had offered so far was a $200 petrol voucher and basket of fruit, she told Newstalk ZB.
Vector should do more and she planned to approach the company to discuss compensation.
