The condition of the 9-year-old schoolboy injured as a result of jumping out of a window has improved from critical to serious.
The police investigation into the incident at Taradale Primary School has finished and Worksafe NZ is now dealing with the incident.
Emergency services were called to Taradale Primary School at 1.15pm on May 25 after the boy was found having difficulty breathing. He was injured after he leaped from a window and caught his shirt on something which constricted his breathing.
The boy was put in an induced coma and transferred to Starship from Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital that night.
The school had co-operated with the police investigation and the Ministry of Education.
