A snowboarder has been airlifted off Mt Ruapehu with serious injuries after a fall.
The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was called to Whakapapa ski field at midday yesterday to evacuate a 23-year-old man who had fallen two metres on to hard snow while snowboarding.
The man suffered multiple fractures and was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital for treatment.
