A pensioner has been rescued from Abel Tasman National Park after falling and injuring her hip.
The 69-year-old from Golden Bay was tramping in the park with another woman when she fell shortly before 7.50am, Tim Douglas-Clifford, base manager at the Nelson-Marlborough Rescue Helicopter, said.
She injured her hip and could no longer carry on with the hike, he said.
The rescue chopper landed on the beach at the Department of Conservation campsite at The Anchorage, and rescuers trekked up to the track to bring the woman out on a stretcher.
The on-board paramedic stabilised the woman, and she was flown to Nelson Hospital for treatment.
