An injured Nelson woman has been winched from a walking track after slipping and falling into a creek bed.
The 52-year-old was tramping near the Wangapeka Track in the Kahurangi National Park this evening when she fell, injuring her leg.
Companions helped stabilise her while one person made their way out to the Tapawera end of the track and rang emergency services for assistance.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was dispatched and soon located the injured woman on the track near the Kiwi stream junction.
The on-board medic provided initial treatment to the woman, before they were both winched back on-board the helicopter.
