A 79-year-old man's holiday got off to bad start when he had to be airlifted to hospital after a fall early this morning.
The Wairarapa man was supposed to spend the first night of his holiday in a cabin at Anchorage, near Torrent Bay, in Abel Tasman National Park.
But the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter had to be called after he woke during the night and fell while leaving the cabin.
He was treated at the scene for an injured hip, and has been flown to Nelson Hospital.
