KEY POINTS:
A forestry worker has been airlifted to Wellington Hospital after being seriously injured when a tree fell on him in the Marlborough Sounds this morning.
St John Ambulance was called just before 10.30am, about the incident at Umuwheke Bay, on Arapawa Island, in Queen Charlotte Sound.
Spokesman Ian Henderson said the Coastguard, with a St John ambulance officer on board, and the Summit Rescue Helicopter from Nelson with a St John advanced paramedic on board, went to the scene.
The man, in his 30s, had now been flown to Wellington Hospital. His condition was not known.
