Cereal recall
Signature brand Maple and Pecan Cluster breakfast cereal, available in 500g packets, is being recalled because of glass fragments found in some packs. The product can be bought at Foodtown, Woolworths, Countdown, Big Fresh, Price Chopper, 3 Guys, Super Value and Fresh Choice, and has a "best before" date of October 15, 2003. Free festival
The Oranga Festival, in Fergusson Park, Namata Rd, in Oranga next to Onehunga, kicks off at 5pm today with lots of fun for the whole family. Pack up a picnic and join in this community celebration. Admission is free.
Island ramble
Today's Twilight Ramble on Waiheke Island explores the Rangihoura Creek in Ostend. Meet the other ramblers at 6pm at Onetangi Sports Park in Ostend Rd, next to the pavilion, and finish off the evening with a free sausage sizzle.
Holiday fun
Intriguing school holiday classes at the Bays Community Centre, 2 Glen Rd, Browns Bay, include recycling clothing today from 10am to noon, jewellery making tomorrow and weaving fish on Thursday. All classes are $7, and you can book on 478-4091.

Summer in the Bays brings fun and games to Okura Hall Reserve, on the left in Okura River Rd just before you get to Okura Village. Everyone is welcome.
Fireworks
The Louis Vuitton Cup racing has finished for this year, but they have one last shot left. There will be fireworks at 10.30 tonight to celebrate 20 years of America's Cup challenger series sponsorship. The pyrotechnics will be visible from Waitemata Plaza and other vantage points in the Viaduct Harbour.
Regatta
Or you can forget the Louis Vuitton Cup and head north. A four-day sailing regatta in the Bay of Islands starts today and offers competitive races in a number of classes. Phone (09) 402-8185 for more information.
Lake's future
Lake Pupuke in Takapuna is coming under public scrutiny as the North Shore City Council calls for submissions from the community on the lake's management plan. Rowers, sailors, dragon-boaters, canoeists and divers as well as walkers, runners, picnickers and anyone else who uses the lake and its environs is invited to have their say before February 14. A copy of the present management plan is on view at the council offices and at Takapuna Library, and further information on making a submission is available by phoning 486-8600.
Howick class
Now is the time to enrol if you want to take advantage of the interesting and creative classes at Howick's Uxbridge Centre next term. Topics range from screen printing, mosaics and glass-casting to yoga, sushi-making and garden visits, and the classes are held during the day as well as evenings and weekends.
