An infant was critically injured and an adult - believed to be the child's parent - suffered minor injuries when the car they were in and a truck collided at Ngatea, near Thames, about 7.30 last night.
The infant was cut from the wreckage by firefighters after the crash at the intersection of State Highways 2 and 25.
The injured pair were taken to Waikato Hospital. The police serious crash unit is investigating.
