Lucrezia Borgia was born in 1480. Her name has become synonymous with illicit love trists and dark deeds. She was the illegitimate daughter of Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia and his mistress, had three marriages, took many lovers, and was said to have had an insatiable sexual appetite. Rumour has it that she poisoned several lovers with powdered foxglove slipped into a wineglass. She was also said to have had incestuous affairs with male relatives. History looks less harshly on her today, blaming many of the misdeeds on her father and brother. She died at 39.
