India's Prime Minister has asked Parliament to hold a full debate on an anti-corruption activist's reform proposal and appealed to the man to end his nine-day hunger strike.
Manmohan Singh said Parliament should consider Anna Hazare's alternative proposal for a government ombudsman as well as the Government's version and drafts from other civil society groups.
His appeal has fallen short of protesters' demands for immediate action.
