The Coke Corporation has been rebuffed in India, where in the state of Tamil Nadu public pressure has forced the state government to cancel plans for a US$80m bottling plant due to fears it would worsen existing water shortages and pollution.
Coca Cola claimed it would not draw from ground water or River Cauvery sources, but it failed to satisfy opposition.
